Starfleet’s Best

james t. kirk

Kirk's renown began by becoming the youngest captain in Starfleet to date at 34 and the first captain to bring his starship back relatively intact after a five-year mission, having also gained a reputation as an independent whose success couldn't be argued even though he often bucked the system. He also has the distinction of being involved in 17 different temporal violations, a career record which still stands.

spock

Spock was the first Vulcan to enlist in the Federation Starfleet, serving aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike as a lieutenant, and later for James T. Kirk. Because the young Vulcan chose to join Starfleet, Spock and his father (Sarek) opened an 18-year rift over Sarek's hope his son would attend the Vulcan Science Academy.

leonard H. mccoy, MD

Nicknamed 'Bones' by his longtime friend and commander, Captain James T. Kirk, McCoy replaced Mark Piper as chief medical officer in 2266 on one of the ship's five-year missions but clearly became the most renowned of its CMOs. By that first year he had already won the commendations of the Legion of Honor, awards of valor, and was decorated by Starfleet Surgeons.

“There are certain things men must do to remain men.”

James Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise

Montgomery SCOTT

Scott, known as "Scotty" to his longtime comrades James T. Kirk and crew, was the chief engineer aboard the original U.S.S. Enterprise. Scott began active service in Starfleet in 2242, and served on a total of 11 ships.

Nyota Uhura

In Swahili, the name of Uhura translates to "freedom,”. Uhura served as communications officer aboard the Enterprise on one of its early five-year missions, under the command of James T. Kirk. After her memory was wiped in 2267 by the space probe Nomad, Uhura spent considerable time relearning the huge pieces of information the probe had destroyed.

Hikaru SULU

Sulu served as helm officer on board the original U.S.S. Enterprise during one of its five-year missions, after an initial stint as an astrosciences physicist. He then was promoted to chief helmsman on board the U.S.S. Enterprise, under James T. Kirk. In 2290, Sulu assumed command of the starship Excelsior and began a three-year mission charting gaseous anomalies in the Beta Quadrant.
